16th of July, 2020
A Good Day Was Had By All!
Clayton-le-Woods Parish Council held its first-ever Summer Fair on Saturday 24th June at Great Greens Lane Playing Fields, Clayton Brook.
The day kicked off with a Dog Show organised by Hillcrest Animal Hospital.
Amongst the winners was Maurice, who took 1st place in the Waggiest Tail class.
Active Nation from Clayton Green Sports Centre hosted a full programme of sports activities for the children, culminating in a Tug-of-War.
The talent contest was won by a singing duet called Eboni and Sophie, with worthy runners-up solo singers, Benji and Shannon.
Local singer, Delphine, entertained the crowds throughout the day.
Attractions during the day included fairground rides and craft stalls; food outlets ranging from Indian to German foods; free magic shows, face painting and flower arranging classes.
Event Manager for the Parish Council, Councillor Mark Clifford, said:
”It was great to see everyone having a good time and it was a bonus that the rain held off. We hope the Summer Fair will become an annual event in Clayton-le-Woods.”
