100 Years WW1 Commemoration Beacon
16th of July, 2020
In commemoration of the 100 year anniversary of the end of WWI, you may have seen the Silhouettes of our Armed Forces around Clayton-le-Woods.
The silhouettes are part of the UK wide commemoration of WWI organised by the British Legion.
There are currently two silhouettes on public display within the parish. One silhouette is next to the Reservoir Memorial on Preston Road and the second one is on Town Brow near to Back Lane School. The parish council have also donated a silhouette to each of the six schools in the parish and there will be photos and an article in our upcoming newsletter.
To mark the Centenary there will also be a beacon lit at 7pm on Sunday 11/11/2018 at Little Quarries on Hill Top Lane. All Residents are welcome to attend.
(Many thanks to Ruttle’s for permitting the beacon)
