New weekly food waste collection service – starting Monday 13 April 2026

18th of February, 2026

Dear resident,

We are getting in touch to let you know that we will soon begin weekly food waste collections. You may have already received a letter from us about this.

The collections start week commencing Monday 13 April 2026 and your food waste collection day is the same as your other bin collection days.
Please wait until that week to put your outdoor caddy out for the first time.

What you will receive
In the coming weeks, we will deliver everything you need to get started:

  • A small, 7-litre kitchen caddy for your food waste

  • A larger, 23-litre outdoor caddy for collection

  • A welcome pack with clear instructions and two rolls of liners for your kitchen caddy

Your outdoor food waste caddy will be emptied every week, alongside your existing recycling and general waste services.

Do you have communal bins?
If you live in a property that shares communal bins, you will receive a kitchen caddy and liners. Instead of an outdoor caddy, a new communal food waste bin will be delivered and stored with your other communal bins.

We’re here to help
We know that adapting to a new service can take a little time. We are here to support you.

Why this service matters
This service will help our community reduce waste, improve recycling and protect our local environment.
Food waste makes up a large part of what we throw away. When food waste ends up in general rubbish, it produces harmful greenhouse gases. By recycling it separately, we can turn it into useful resources, like renewable energy and nutrient-rich fertiliser for farmland.

Please help spread the word
If you know neighbours, friends, or family who might not have received this message, please feel free to share it with them. We want everyone to be ready for the new service.
